A recent donation to The Leadership Network of Philadelphia has enabled them to provide free computer access and training every Saturday to elderly persons in surrounding neighborhoods.

Challenge

Technolgy can cast quite the daunting shadow over an inexperienced person. The Leadership Network of Philadelphia had a vision for a place where seniors could become enlightened by the Age of Information and fully embrace today’s technology. However, they were missing something.

Solution

Tech Impact’s new Computer Donation Program pairs computers from our partners, like Independence Blue Cross, with refurbishing services from ING DIRECT’s team of technology volunteers. This project has resulted in the distribution of nearly 700 PC’s free of charge to nonprofits throughout Delaware and Philadelphia.

Impact

Many of LNP’s students have learned to pay their bills on line; some have learned how to access vital information concerning free and low cost prescription medications; others have chosen to create facebook accounts; most importantly, there are those whom have developed stronger relationship with family members living in other states and countries.

Free classes for adults & seniors are held on Saturdays, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM at The Leadership Network’s Upper Darby & Cobbs Creek locations.
