PHILADELPHIA – January 22, 2020 – Tech Impact, a 501(c)(3) provider of nonprofit technology solutions and the operator of award-winning IT training programs for underserved youth, announced today the launch of its data science practice. The new data science practice will offer a deeper focus on Measurement and Impact Evaluation. Nonprofits will now have holistic support in assessing the data they are collecting, collecting better data, and making actionable decisions through statistical analysis and machine learning.
The practice was created to provide affordable access to advanced data tools to help nonprofits measure the impact of their programs and use that data to produce better outcomes for constituents. Tech Impact can now assist nonprofits throughout the entire lifecycle of data systems, including data orchestration, data analysis, and building reporting and visualization tools. The new services added as part of the data science practice include:
- Data Impact Assessment—inventory existing data and assess its accuracy and usefulness.
- Data Warehousing—consolidate multiple data sources into one data warehouse, integrate systems and automate workflows.
- Statistical and Machine Learning Analysis—explore data through statistical and machine learning analysis to gauge effectiveness.
“We are proud to deliver a comprehensive data science practice that will provide nonprofits, of all sizes, with access to data tools and strategies that will have a meaningful impact on the programs they deliver,” said Alyssa Ford, Data and Strategy Team Lead at Tech Impact. “Data and analytics are essential to the work of nonprofits, but many organizations aren’t using the data to impact program delivery. This is where Tech Impact comes in—we’re bridging the gap between required reporting for funders and using that same data to improve programs.”
Tech Impact hired Leonardo Hughes as its new Data Consultant for Social Change to support the data science practice. In this role, Leonardo will work with nonprofit clients to help them design and deploy data systems to meet complex operational and reporting needs. Prior to Tech Impact, Leo worked in a variety of roles from research to workflow automation and programming. He has proficiencies in Python, R, SQL, PostGRES, SPSS, ArcGIS, and Azure Data Factory.
