Global Ties U.S. is the national leader for connecting people and communities in the United States with global leaders through international exchange programs.

The nationwide Global Ties Network comprises more than 80 nonprofit organizations that serve all 50 U.S. states and partner with the U.S. Department of State to implement the flagship International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and a wide variety of other international exchange and public diplomacy programs.

Global Ties U.S.’s work with Tech Impact has been transformative over the last three years. In 2022, as the team began to come back to work in person after the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a significant opportunity to streamline the team’s hardware and create software efficiency.

Cliffette Nicholls, the Operations Manager for Global Ties U.S., began an audit of all hardware devices, which had become eclectic over the years, to determine licensing and software needs. She also set out to maximize their contract with Tech Impact. After many meetings and a real motivation to get a handle on their environment, Cliffette and the Tech Impact team went to work. In a matter of a few months, they got the team on the same operating systems, gained control of their cloud usage and password management, and started strategically planning long-term tech investments and optimization. The following priorities included organizing 18 years’ worth of data in their cloud systems, improving their wireless access points so that staff could be productive in the office, and managing access, security features, and permissions across their tech stack.

Now, Global Ties US is set up to take advantage of the next wave of technology for nonprofits, including automations to help streamline their back-office systems and beginning to incorporate AI into their operations. “I am thrilled that we are finally at this point, that we can start thinking proactively on how technology can support our mission, instead of putting all our efforts into cleaning up and trying to get back to even ground. It’s a lot more exciting on this side of things”.

“Tech Impact has been a great resource and a great partner. Both of us have grown in the past three years and our current partnership helps us to identify the needs and maximize the opportunities with our technology.”
