Cohort Model Services: A One-to-Many Approach
Support your grantees with a scalable, cohort-based program that strengthens infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital, and data capacity while giving you clearer insights and greater impact.
A Smarter, Scalable Approach to Funding Nonprofit Technology Transformation
Tech Impact partners with foundations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to deliver high-impact, cohort-based technology programs for nonprofits.
While we support hundreds of organizations individually each year, our cohort model creates shared learning, standardized assessment, in-house tech support to provide a measurable impact across an entire portfolio of grantees or participants.
This one-to-many approach enables funders to move toward a proactive, data-informed strategy for their nonprofit technology investment.
Why Foundations & CSR Leaders Choose the Cohort Model
Rather than addressing technology needs one organization at a time, our cohort model creates a structured framework that supports measurable improvements in focus areas including infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, and digital strategy.
With funders facing increased demand for tech support, requests are often inconsistent and difficult to evaluate. By standardizing the process, funders can ensure their organizations have met baseline requirements all while reviewing comprehensive reports that help identify common gaps and areas of improvement across their portfolio.

What Grantees Gain - The Power of Cohort Learning and Guidance
Nonprofits don’t just learn from experts, they learn from each other.
By participating in a cohort, organizations gain exposure to real-world challenges and solutions from peers facing similar constraints. Along with virtual education opportunities, cohort participants leave with:
• A clear understanding of their current technology landscape
• Expert guidance on cybersecurity, data, and systems
• A prioritized roadmap for improvement with optional follow-up services
• Access to peer learning and shared challenges
• Increased confidence in making technology decisions

Frequently Asked Questions
Our cohort offering is targeted to foundations, grantmaking organizations, Corporate Social Responsibility Programs, or other funding groups. We do not run cohorts for individual organizations at this time.
Cohort timelines are tailored to the needs of the funding organization, but a sample timeline may look like:
- Program Design: 1-2 weeks
- Baseline Assessments: 2-4 weeks; one hour assessments with participating organizations
- Cohort Learning & Advisory: 2-4 weeks; one hour webinars on agreed upon topics
- Roadmaps & Recommendations: 1-2 weeks
- Remediation Services (if included): 4-6 weeks, depending on complexity
- Portfolio Insights for Funder: 1-2 weeks
Our team has managed dozens of cohorts, all being uniquely designed with the funder in mind. Step one of the model includes program design conversation with funder staff and the Tech Impact team where we will decide:
- Focus Area(s): Our main topic areas include cybersecurity, digital and web services, AI and data management, technology infrastructure and planning.
- Eligible Participants: Funders can invite specific groupings within their portfolio, full portfolios, or cause-specific nonprofits. Cohorts can be closed and invitations fully managed by funders, or Tech Impact will support marketing efforts if appropriate.
- Webinar Topics: Based on the focus area(s) chosen, our team will provide a listing of webinar/workshop topics to choose from
- Timeline: Depending on a funders timeline, cohort models can be small and quick, or run on an open timeline and billed hourly.
- Follow-up Services: Funders can decide to fund follow-up services based on recommendations on a case-by-case basis, or by a specific dollar amount per participating organization. All services agreed upon before starting.
