Email & Cloud Migrations

Tech Impact can help nonprofits migrate any of their core servers to the cloud to save money, improve collaboration, and boost productivity. With expertise in multiple cloud-based servers (such as AWS and Azure), email and file-sharing platforms (including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace), and intranet-building procedures, Tech Impact works with each individual nonprofit to find the right solution for their needs.

Website, Branding, & Digital Strategy Development

The Message Agency division of Tech Impact provides various digital services for nonprofits. Their team will partner with clients for custom open-source website development (including building custom integrations and providing ongoing site support), brand identity curation, and digital strategy creation and execution to align communications across all public channels.

Cybersecurity Services

Tech Impact runs comprehensive cybersecurity audits, security risk assessments, and vulnerability scans to identify potential threats to nonprofits’ IT infrastructures. Then, the team will develop a plan to mitigate these risks through software upgrades, virtual advising, security control implementation, and employee awareness training.

Data, AI, & Analytics Support

Tech Impact’s data management services help nonprofits at all levels of data maturity leverage collected information to make informed decisions about how to serve their communities. Strategic Tech Planning & Assessments

Tech Impact’s experts will facilitate a smooth transition from start to finish, supporting software identification, new database implementation, customized training, and ongoing audits to ensure each organization’s tools meet its needs.

Workforce Development

The Tech Impact ITWorks program aims to give individuals the technical and soft skills needed to become information technology professionals through free courses. The first 16-week, in-person course teaches industry-led skills to help students earn their CompTIA A+ certification, and graduates of that course can choose to take an additional 10-week virtual course (Pathway to Middle Skills) covering higher-level competencies.

Company History

Tech Impact originated in 2003 from a collaboration between Microsoft and a small group of foundations that created the NPower network, which was a group of capacity-building organizations that provided hands-on technology support to nonprofits. Through more than 20 years of work, Tech Impact has kept the spirit of the initial network alive by evolving its services to keep pace with technology advancements and expand its training and education capabilities to help even more people use technology to better serve the world.

ITWorks, the training branch of Tech Impact, launched in 2009 and has graduated more than 1,600 students as of 2025. Tech Impact merged with 501cTech in 2016, acquired Idealware in 2018, and merged two more times with Delaware Data Innovation Lab in 2021 and Message Agency in 2023. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Tech Impact has a board of directors rather than an owner and is funded mostly by a combination of government and foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and fees for its services.

400 Managed IT Clients Milestone

In February 2026, Tech Impact signed its 400th nonprofit client for its managed IT services. This milestone reflects the organization’s continued commitment to providing comprehensive and affordable technology support to nonprofits of all sizes—its managed IT clients have anywhere from one to 450 workstations. Tech Impact also still has clients that date back to its founding in 2003, further cementing its dedication to its mission and quality of service.

MacArthur Foundation Grant

Message Agency, Tech Impact’s digital services division, was awarded a $560,000 grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in March 2026. This grant will fund digital strategy and cybersecurity support specifically for journalism and media organizations, ranging from webinar and educational content creation to custom assessment design and implementation projects.

2025 Tech Forward Conference

In September 2025, Tech Impact hosted its annual Tech Forward Conference, a three-day in-person event in Nashville, TN. The conference brought together nonprofit leaders from across the United States to discuss topics ranging from common website security risks to creative mission-driven data applications and technology implementation while navigating internal resistance to change. The next Tech Forward Conference will take place in Kansas City, MO, from September 27-29, 2026.

Tech Impact is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides technology services to other nonprofits. It essentially acts as a managed IT, cybersecurity, and digital strategy department tailored to the budgets and operational needs of nonprofits. Its goal is to empower organizations to leverage technology for the greater good and to manage their technical needs so nonprofit professionals can “get back to saving the world.”

Tech Impact serves two distinct audiences: other nonprofits and individual aspiring IT professionals. Their nonprofit audience comprises their entire paid client base for their technology services and runs the gamut of causes, locations, and budgets.

The aspiring IT professionals Tech Impact serves participate in their ITWorks program, a 16-week training course that prepares young adults for IT careers without the need for a college degree.
