WILMINGTON, DE – October 9, 2024 — Tech Impact, a leading 501(c)(3) that leverages technology to advance social impact and workforce training, today announced its partnership with the Delaware Workforce Development Board and the Delaware Department of Labor to launch a first-of-its-kind career mobility app, Delaware Career Mobility App. The innovative Career Mobility App is designed to bridge the gap between Delaware job seekers and the training programs they need to advance their careers, directly addressing the state's growing workforce demands.

With more than 33,000 vacant positions at Delaware's largest employers and an unemployment rate of 4.5% — this app is a timely solution. It offers an accessible, user-friendly platform that connects Delaware residents with over 200 training programs across sectors like nursing, technology, and construction.

We are thrilled to launch the Career Mobility App, which not only supports Delaware residents, but also empowers training providers and employers by streamlining connections and the ability to hire local talent.” said Patrick Callihan, Tech Impact’s Chief Executive Officer. “As a Delaware employer and a training partner, we deeply understand the needs of both of these groups. By utilizing our expertise in app development, our collaboration with the Workforce Development Board has enabled us to create a powerful tool that addresses critical workforce challenges and helps Delawareans build prosperous careers.

The Delaware Workforce Development Board sought a solution to better connect training partners with residents searching seeking stable and prosperous employment. With most working-age Delawareans owning mobile devices, the Career Mobility App provides an accessible, user-friendly platform that links the unemployed and underemployed with training programs that provide job opportunities, upskills and credential trainings.

Delaware is a small state, but a powerhouse when it comes to building partnerships across sectors to get things done for our communities. We identified the disconnect between the vast number of highly effective, mainly free training programs and the residents they are trying to serve.” shared Scott Malfitano, Chair of the State of Delaware’s Workforce Development Board. “Most of these programs don’t have the marketing budget or community connections needed to promote their opportunities, and we wanted to fix that. The Career Mobility App is a first-of-its-kind initiative to support our motivated residents by connecting them to the education and training they need to kickstart fulfilling careers.

The Career Mobility App was funded through the American Rescue Plan. The State of Delaware, led by the Office of Governor John Carney, is actively investing over $1B of one-time funding projects to support community initiatives statewide. Through a partnership with the Delaware Workforce Development Board, this app supports the overarching goal of building a well-educated and highly skilled workforce in Delaware, a key goal of Governor Carney’s administration.

The Career Mobility App currently lists over 200 training programs with more than 40 partners that train and/or certify participants in fields such as nursing, technology, and construction. Partners, stakeholders, and community members will celebrate the launch at a press conference hosted at The Warehouse, on October 10, 2024. Interested residents can explore the app by downloading it from the Apple or Google app stores or visiting the website at https://decareermobility.org/.
