Karthik Devarajan
Karthik Devarajan is the Chief Technology Officer at American Humane Society, the country’s first national humane organization focused on protecting animals around the world. In his role, he leads the organization’s technology strategy, focusing on modernizing systems, improving day-to-day operations, and helping teams work more effectively. His work supports programs that collectively reach over a billion animals each year, and he is particularly focused on using technology to extend that impact in practical, meaningful ways.
Karthik brings over 18 years of experience across nonprofits and higher education, where he has built and led teams that use technology to solve real world challenges. Before joining American Humane, he held leadership roles at the American Association of Colleges and Universities and Maryland Legal Aid, where he helped organizations strengthen their technology foundations, streamline operations, and better support their missions as they grew. Throughout his career, he has been driven by a simple goal - making technology useful, accessible, and aligned with the people and causes it serves.
